Recycling of lamps and light bulbs

Some companies, public institutions and households treat fluorescent and other lamps as ordinary waste. Consequently they may end up in waste bins, waste containers and elsewhere.

Did you know:

  • That fluorescent lamps are treated as hazardous waste, because they contain among other also mercury vapours (about 20 mg of Hg/ lamp unit) and phosphorus mixture with some minerals that are toxic?
  • That all waste lamps and light bulbs are categorized as waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and the are treated as hazardous waste by law?

EKOF d.o.o. Company offers a method of unique collection, destruction and storage of fluorescent lamps and other light bulbs by using an innovative mobile system called ‘lamp crusher’

Basic information about ‘lamp crusher’:

  • Minimal space requirement for the unit (around 3 m²)
  • 80% less space for storing lamps
  • No special conditions for disposal and storage of hazardous lamps (ISO 14001, OHSAS)

  • Manipulation with hazardous lamps requires less time => 20 hours saved / 1000 lamps
  • With some additional parts all types of lamps and light bulbs can be destroyed
  • In one unit (container with the volume of 200 litres) up to 1350 lamps can be stored
  • Special filters ensure safe working environment as they neutralizes 99.9% of mercury vapours, making the discharge into the environment well below the prescribed level for humans and environment (discharge level = 0.00005 mg/m³; OSHA standard = max 0.1 mg/m³)
  • System adheres to OSHA and CE standards
  • Easy handling and maintenance
  • System is mobile and can be used on different places
  • Simple, economical (instead of 4 transporters there is only one now) and safe method of distribution of hazardous lamps to recycling centres

  • You can call a mobile EKOF unit, which comes to your place and takes care of your burned out and unneeded lamps and light bulbs
